The Canadian online gaming industry has grown rapidly over the last few years and that has included not just gamblers heading online to play, but also with significant additions to the high-tech firms calling the country home to help service the industry.

One of those companies recently announced some major company news regarding a significant deal and expansion in the market. Additionally, another major North American operator has also announced another key licensing deal that may interest many Canadian hockey fans as well.

Canadian online casino fans may soon have another option to check out on a computer or mobile phone. Strive Gaming, based in Vancouver, British Columbia, announced a new strategic partnership with PointsBet. The deal calls for Strive to offer online casino gaming on PointsBet’s platform.

PointsBet’s U.S. operations were purchased by the Fanatics sports apparel and merchandise company in May for $225 million, allowing the apparel firm to enter that gaming market.

However, the Canadian operations retain the PointsBet name and remain part of the company, which is based in Australia. The company’s Canadian operations are headquartered out of a Toronto facility, where it remains an official sports betting partner of the Maple Leafs hockey franchise.

The Strive agreement now allows PointsBet Canada to ramp up online casino operations in the Ontario casino market and possibly other provinces in the coming months as well.

“Positioned as PointsBet’s strategic casino partner, this collaboration is set to redefine the Canadian iGaming experience starting in early 2024,” Strive noted in a news release. “PointsBet will leverage Strive Gaming’s tech platform to seamlessly integrate diverse content providers and create a world-class online casino experience. From North American retail options to European content, users can expect an unparalleled gaming library.”

Strive plans on using the company’s proprietary tool, Infinity Engine, to bring game sophistication to the market. The technology also allows PointsBet to tailor thousands of game titles to players in real time. Officials at both companies were pleased about the deal and what it means for the firms’ future in Canada.

“As the iGaming landscape evolves rapidly, we are excited to continue our expansion in North America and add a top-tier operator like PointsBet,” Strive Gaming CEO Max Meltzer said. “Partnering with this incredibly smart and technology-focused business is a testament to the quality of our platform and people. We look forward to working closely with PointsBet to deliver a world class online casino experience to their users.”
