Just over a month remains for one lucky Canadian to claim an eight-figure lotto payout from Atlantic Lottery. Time is running out for the winner of a $64 million jackpot to come forward and take home the cash.
On April 15, a Lotto 6/49 ticket was sold in Gloucester County, New Brunswick, and ultimately won the jackpot. However, no one has contacted lottery officials with the winning ticket and time is now running out. Atlantic Lottery is hoping to get the word out so that the winner will show up to collect the funds.
“Ensuring Atlantic Canadians receive the prizes they are entitled to is the single most important thing we do here at Atlantic Lottery,” Atlantic Lottery director of brand and communications Molly Cormier said. “We are working hard to raise awareness in the hopes the winner will come forward to claim their prize.”
Details on the Win
Atlantic Lottery is owned by the four provincial governments of New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland and Labrador. The $64 million Gold Ball Jackpot from April 15 is the largest lottery prize ever won in Atlantic Canada.
As with all Atlantic Lottery games, the prize can be claimed up to one year after the draw date. If no one comes forward, the prize and the ticket expires on April 15. That means the prize money will go into the unclaimed prize fund to be redistributed to players in future prizes.
“It is extremely rare that major prizes like this go unclaimed but there is still plenty of time left for the winner to come forward and we are very hopeful that will happen,” Cormier said. “Giving out big prizes makes for the most exciting days here at Atlantic Lottery and our entire team is eager to meet the $64 million winner and celebrate this record win with them.”
